DJ Maphorisa

DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, is a South African record producer and DJ. He is known for his work in the genres of amapiano and Afro-house. DJ Maphorisa gained popularity both in South Africa and internationally through his collaborations with various artists.

He began his music career as a member of the group Uhuru, which was known for their hit songs like “Y-Tjukutja” and “Khona.” DJ Maphorisa later embarked on a successful solo career, producing and releasing his own music. He has worked with numerous notable artists, including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Drake, Major Lazer, and many others.

DJ Maphorisa has been instrumental in the popularization of amapiano music, a South African genre characterized by its fusion of deep house, jazz, and kwaito elements.
