Arsenal begin their campaign with a trip to Saint James Park to face Newcastle. The Gunners were one of the most active clubs in the summer bringing five new players in a bid to make the Champions League places this season.

Since this is the first game of the season, manager Unai Emery is likely to stick with the players that played most of the pre-season. Furthermore, the forced absence of Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac due to security concerns further weakens the team.

We look at the players that are likely to start for the Gunners on Sunday.

German ace Bernd Leno starts in goal in what should be a consolidating season after a fairly solid campaign. The back four could see some changes with new signing David Luiz expected to partner Sokratis in the heart of the defence.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles continues to deputise for the injured Hector Bellerin at right-back while veteran defender Nacho Monreal starts at left-back.

The midfield three sees Lucas Torreira and Xhaka in the holding role with youngster Willock in the number 10 role.

The attack is fairly solid with Armenia ace Mkhitaryan expected to operate from the right with youngster Nelson starting on the left. Gabonese forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang will be looking to continue from where he stopped last season in the number 9 role.
