South African musician/songwriter Lira is reported to be down with stroke.
The 43-year-old was on duty in Germany when she unfortunately suffered a stoke, however, she is back to South Africa where she is recuperating.
The news of Lira’s illness shocked her friends and fans as prayers and goodwill messages are pouring in for the Phakade hitmaker.
Lira’s family are seeking for patience and prayers in this difficult period, and they have released an official statement on the all the singer’s social media account to that effect.
”We would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently traveled to Germany for a performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke whilst there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, has been impacted,” reads the statement.
“She is currently undergoing treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team available. Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term. That said, Lira is in good spirits and is surrounded by her loving family and close friends as she journeys towards a full recovery.”
