South African musical legend Steve Kekana is reported to have given up the ghost in the early hours of today.
Steve Kekana’s manager Xolani Majozi broke the sad news, Thursday 1 July, as he stated he called the late singer’s wife who passed the message to him.
“Yes it’s true, Ntate Steve Kekana is no more. He died in the early hours of this morning and we are waiting for more details from the family,” Majozi said.
“I spoke to his wife and she confirmed that he’s no more. He was fine the last time I spoke to him. I spoke to him last week over the phone and we were having an event around him but had to cancel due to the latest lockdown regulations.”
Kekana is reported to have died of COVID-19-related complications and in the process lost his sight.
Steve Kekana will be remembered fondly for the evergreen songs he released during his time, including Take Your Love, I Love Africa, Shine On, Sebabatso, and many other songs.
